What is cold cure live rosin? How Loud Star makes it

Cold cure live rosin, explained without the hype: fresh-frozen flower, ice-water hash, heat and pressure, and a slow cold cure. No solvents at any step.

What is cold cure live rosin? How Loud Star makes it

Start with the whole plant, frozen the day it comes down

Live rosin starts with fresh-frozen flower. Instead of hanging the harvest to dry, Loud Star cuts, bucks and freezes it within hours. Freezing locks in the volatile terpenes that drying and curing normally burn off, which is why live products smell like the plant did in the room, not like a jar that has sat for two months.

Wash it with ice and water

The frozen flower goes into ice water and is gently agitated. Cold makes the trichome heads brittle; agitation snaps them off the plant; water carries them through a series of mesh bags that sort them by size. What collects is bubble hash: trichome heads and not much else. No butane, no propane, no ethanol, no CO2. The only inputs are water, ice and cold.

Press with heat and pressure only

The dried hash is pressed between heated plates. Under moderate heat and high pressure the resin flows out of the trichome heads and is collected as rosin. The temperature and time are the whole craft: too hot and you cook the terpenes you just worked to keep; too cold and the yield drops. Nothing is added at any point.

Cold cure, then jar

Fresh rosin is a clear, glassy sap. Left sealed at a cool temperature for days to weeks, it slowly changes texture into an opaque, creamy consistency that is easier to handle on a dab tool and holds its aroma. That resting period is the cold cure. Loud Star cures cold, then fills 1 g black glass jars that keep light off the rosin, and labels them for the lot they came from.

Why "single source" is on the jar

Every gram of Loud Star rosin is pressed from Loud Star flower, grown under the same New York microbusiness license that packages it (OCM-MICR-24-000061). Single source means one farm, one freeze, one wash, one press, one lot number on the label and one certificate of analysis behind it.

How to keep it

Cold and dark. Rosin is live material; heat and light move it toward the glassy, darker state it would have reached without the cold cure. Keep the jar in the fridge, let it come up a few minutes before use, stir if it has separated, and reseal. The base of a Loud Star jar is also the carb cap, so the only thing to find is the jar itself.

Questions

Is live rosin the same as live resin?

No. Both start from fresh-frozen flower, but live resin is extracted with a hydrocarbon solvent such as butane and then purged. Live rosin uses only ice, water, heat and pressure. Loud Star rosin is solventless.

What does "cold cure" change?

Texture and stability. Resting fresh rosin at a cool temperature turns it from a clear sap into a creamy, opaque consistency that is easier to dose and holds its aroma longer at room temperature.

Is Loud Star rosin lab tested?

Yes. Every lot is tested by a New York licensed laboratory before sale, and the certificate of analysis is reachable from the QR code on the package.
